BEYOND 7/2: The journey began January 10th, 2016 at the South Pole.

He did it! On Friday, May 27, 2016 at 6pm AKST professional endurance athlete Colin O’Brady became a two-time world record holder.

Colin became the fastest person to complete the Explorers Grand Slam, an epic mountaineering challenge. He climbed the “Seven Summits,” the tallest peak on each of the seven continents, and skied the last degree to the North and South Poles in uninterrupted succession. The time to beat was 6 months, 11 days (192 days). Colin set the new Explorers Grand Slam world record in just 139 days. Fewer than 50 people have ever completed this staggering achievement, and only four in under a year.

Colin also broke the speed record for the Seven Summits, summiting the highest peak on every continent in just 132 days. The time to beat was 134 days.

South Pole – January 10, 2016
Mt. Vinson (Antarctica) – January 17, 2016
Aconcagua (South America) – January 31, 2016
Mt. Kilimanjaro (Africa) – February 9, 2016
Mt. Kosciuszko (Australia) – February 17, 2016*
Carstensz Pyramid (Oceania) – March 4, 2016
Mt. Elbrus (Europe) – March 10, 2016
North Pole – April 19, 2016
Mt. Everest (Asia) – May 19, 2016
Denali (North America) – May 27, 2016

To set the world records, Colin faced dire challenges such as limited oxygen, extreme winds, and bitter cold temperatures in the Arctic and polar regions. This epic endeavor was a true test of physical and mental resilience, and one that redefines the limits of human endurance.

Colin attempted this journey for a larger purpose. The goal of raising awareness for the fight against childhood obesity in America fueled his mission. Colin hopes that his record-breaking performance across two Poles and seven continents will inspire today’s youth to dream big, set goals, and lead active, healthy lives so they can be happier and more successful.

BEYOND 7/2 aims to raise funds and awareness to inspire active, healthy kids.
